What is Long Arm Quilting?

Long arm machine quilting is one of the services provided by LifeLong Quilting.  Do you love to piece quilts but do not want to take the time to do the quilting itself?  (Or are you tired of trying to fit a large quilt through the small space on your machine?)

Long arm machine quilting is our specialty. We take pride in our workmanship, taking extra special care of your quilt while it is in our possession in our non-smoking location in Woodland Park, Colorado. Using the Handi-Quilter Fusion 24 long arm machine quilting machine, we feature fast turnaround with all over machine quilting designs, custom designs will take a little longer.  Please allow 4-6 weeks for your quilt to be completed

What to do before we can get started…

Step 1 – Clip and remove all loose threads from quilt top.
Step 2 – Check that all seams are secure.
Step 3 – Make sure quilt top and backing are squared up.
Step 4 – Press quilt top and backing.
Step 5 – If your backing is pieced, press all backing seams open.
Step 6 – If your quilt top or backing fabric has been pre-washed, make sure to pre-wash the other as well.
Step 7 – Batting and backing should be cut 3 inches larger on an all sides (6 inches wider and longer than your quilt top).
Step 8 – For best results your quilt top and backing should both be 100% cotton.
Step 9 – DO NOT pin or baste the top, batting and backing together.  They need to be three separate pieces when long arm quilting.
Step 10 – Take a safety pin and pin it to the top CENTER of your quilt top.
Step 11 – Take a safety pin and pin it to the top CENTER of your quilt backing.
Step 12 – All these steps are requirements for having your project quilted.
